Thomas Lutz, Dr. phil., is a historian, history didactician and political scientist. He heads the memorial department of the Topography of Terror Foundation, Berlin. In this function, he advises in a variety of ways, from small regional initiatives and new conceptions of institutions, to governments and international organizations. He is the responsible editor of the GedenkstättenRundbrief (current issue no. 199) and the online GedenkstättenForum. He was appointed to the expert panel of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media in the allocation of funds under the Federal Memorial Sites Fund. He serves as the German delegate to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) and was a founding member of the International Committee for Memorial Museums for Victims of State Crimes (IC MEMO in ICOM) in 2001. Thomas Lutz is chairman of the international advisory board of the Brandenburg Memorials Foundation.
